Hi Linda, Hope everything is
going good for you and yours. I talked to Veda Marshall and she asked me
to send Travis’ obituary in for her. [Please see
Good-Byes.] My dues are close, so
thought I would take care of both. Everything is good
in Tishomingo. We finally got some rain and everything is greening up
before the fall brown takes over. Be good and really
appreciate what each and everyone of you do for keeping us informed. Thanks, Jackie Carter Tishomingo, OK Hi Linda & Sue, Here it is October

California and Arizona. We are so proud of all of them. My e-mail

Hi Linda, Here are our dues for
another year and every penny we send is well worth it as we enjoy reading all
the news. We moved from
Midland this past May to Pflugerville, TX and have finally gotten settled.
We really enjoy being here close to our daughter, Stacy, and all of her family.
Stacy works for St. David Hospital in Austin scheduling surgeries. Our
son, Kenny, and family still live in Hobbs, NM and he is still with El Paso and
our other son, Derrell Joe, and family have just recently moved to Farmington,
NM and Derrell Joe works for Enterprise Energy. Dennis had heart bypass
surgery this past January and is doing great and we are so thankful for his
recovery. Thank all of you so
much for keeping us all informed. Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday
Season. Our new address is: Dennis and Jodie

Updated November 1, 2011
Dear Linda, Would you please include the enclosed obituary for Gaylord
Scott in the next issue of the Rusty Pipeliner. He worked a short time for
El Paso Natural Gas and then was a Texas Highway Patrol officer at the Guadalupe
Mountains for about twenty years. He lived at the gas camp with everyone
and was a friend to all of us. Benny and Donna Hendricks Lubbock, TX Please renew my subscription to the Rusty Pipeliner. August J (Joe) Knipps 1941 Saul Kleinfeld Dr. # 116 El Paso, TX 79936-3779 Dear Linda, I enjoy reading the publication every month but it’s sad to
see Rudy Boeta & Lynn Parsons passing. Rudy and I started in the mail room
back in 1964. Rudy, Lynn and I played fast pitch at the Hueco Club and of
course those were wonderful days. It was nice to see you at Alice Ross’ funeral at Ft. Bliss
Cemetery. Alice was a wonderful member of our Choraliers for over 30 years
and we will all miss her very much. Alice always had that beautiful smile
and wonderful Choralier parties at Alice’s Bar and Grill. Great memories
from the past. EPNG continues to support the El Paso Texas Flags Across
America and it’s good to have some of them in El Paso. They have donated
pipe for our donation container and made our plaque stands. Thank you for all you do for Rusty Pipeliner News and looking
forward to seeing everyone at the El Paso Retiree’s Reunion Luncheon on October
13, 2011. Jimmy K. Melver 915/549-5031 Linda, Enclosed is our annual donation to the Rusty Pipeliner News. We are doing well – no real complaints. Our health is
pretty good. Thanks again for all the work that you do. Bob & Helen Wysner
Updated September 30, 2011 Linda, When I don’t look at the
address label, I don’t know when dues are due. When I put stuff to
remember on the calendar and don’t look at it, I miss stuff that I need to
remember, it’s tough all over sometimes!!!! Life has been good to me
in Georgetown, TX for thirty years and I thank God for good ole EPNG and the
great association I’ve had with fellow employees. Where else could I have
found the stability and reliability furnished by El Paso and its employees? Thanks for keeping us
informed about our friends. Wade Knight 1730 FM972 Georgetown, TX 78626-1738 (512) 863-4903 Dear Linda, Here is my check for
another year on the news. Sorry I’m late. My wife, Lucy, had a
stroke on November 1, 2010 leaving her crippled on her left side requiring
caregiver’s assistance 13 hours per day 7 days a week from 5:00 a.m. until 6:00
p.m. Robert L. Mullens Dear RPN Staff: I have enclosed a check
for M. T. Scanlan (Tom) to receive the Rusty Pipeliner News and want to give you
his new address:

Prescott, AZ 86301-1774 He enjoys receiving this
newsletter very much and so do I so that we may keep up with old friends.
Eileen Girvin (his daughter) Thanks to all of you for
your hard work. Bob Wimsatt Thank you for the news of
the El Paso people and families. Nell Addison Sorry this is late but do
like to get Pipeliner and appreciate all the hard work you do. Louie & Laverne
Bell Dear Pipeliner News, My contribution for
the “News” is included. Also, my thanks to all of you who work so hard to
keep us in touch with old friends and neighbors. Thanks again for the good
job all of you are doing. Mary Carman Dear Linda: Thanks to you and
all of the RPN group from callers, mailers, editors, story tellers, etc.
We all appreciate what you do. So many write to you
of what they are doing or have done. I want to encourage all the retirees
to take advantage of this free time we now have. We were lucky to work for
a company that had generous benefits and a matched IRA. In my lifetime, I
have been lucky enough to travel to all but four states in these United States
(missed North Dakota, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire). I’ve also been to
Canada and Mexico. I was lucky enough to live in Europe for 2 ½ years and
so have traveled to Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and
Switzerland. Since retirement, Marge Spears Digison, Alice Ross and I took
a cruise to the Caribbean and a few years later, Marge and I went on another
cruise – this time to Turkey, Greece and the Greek Isles. Later one of my
grandsons was working in Stuttgart, Germany so the family and I went to visit
him and took a side trip to Rome. But I saved the best for last. My
daughter and I took two separate safari tours in Africa – the first to South
Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe and the second to Tanzania. My travel wants
are different now but am looking forward to a trip to Santa Fe next year. I would enjoy hearing from
any and all of you. Susan Cole Time to pay up
again. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication. Frank Frame Thanks for all your
dedication in getting the “Retiree’s News” out. We know fewer and fewer of those
still mentioned. Tom and Norma
Grant Enclosed is the obit
for Burnell Hennigan. Burnell was a Tech in the San Juan Division
Communications Dept. I worked with Burnell from the time he went to work
for EPNG until I retired. Burnell was very quiet and didn’t have much to
say, but I have never heard of anyone who didn’t like him and there are very few
people like that. He was a very good technician and very good at anything
that needed done and a good friend to all who knew him. I am also enclosing a
check to help you guys. We all appreciate all you do. God bless you
all. Al Greening Hi Sue and Linda, Here it is
practically mid-August and I haven’t sent in my donation due in July.
Please excuse me as I send in another year’s donation. Bill & Joy Maxwell Thanks for your hard
work and continuing efforts in the publication of the “Rusty Pipeliner News”.
Look forward to receiving the RPN each month. Enjoy reading the Hellos and
sadly the Good-Byes. Enclosed is my donation. Raymond Messimer Rusty Pipeliner Staff: I really enjoy the
RPN. Oklahoma is hot and dry but golf course and fishing is great!
See Oklahoma in the fall. Isaac Miller Dear Linda / RPN, Since my last
correspondence with you – I have retired from San Juan College – eight years of
teaching “Industrial Safety”. I now volunteer two days a week at
Browning’s Horse Ranch cleaning stalls and pens and have developed into a fair
“pooper – Scooper”! Also taking Tap and Line Dancing classes with Jan.
Every weekend you’ll find me at “SunRay Park” watching the ponies run. Jan
and I will start Tai-Chi classes next week. We both volunteer at Pinon
Hills Community Church where we attend. As you can tell, we both stay very
busy, active & happy ! Hello to all and donation
enclosed. Jerry & Jan Wilson Farmington, NM Dear friends, my grandmother, Rosa Gregory Clower passed away this last February. I have attached a copy of her obituary and a recent photo. We know that she had many friends in the Rusty Pipeliner circle. We know that her sons Tim, Mike, and Gary Gregory along with her husband, Ken Clower would want this shared with your readers. Thanks so much for passing on news to old friends! [Please see Good-Byes.] Lori Gregory Evans Dear RPN: Late as usual but here’s
for two years and early for once! Wilburn Hester Sorry, late again, Bob Holzheuser Dear Sue,
Would you please put the notice (and pictures) of our
recent 60th
anniversary in an upcoming issue of RPN. We had planned on getting it to you
sooner, but just got around to it. We sure look forward each
month to the newsletter – John knows so many people who are named in each issue.
Thanks for all of your, and others, hard work. John & Leah Grove 903 N. Main St. #164 San Angelo, TX 76903
Updated August 25, 2011 Hello Linda, I thought I better let you all know we are no longer living in El Paso, after fifty years. We moved to Tulsa, OK this spring to be nearer to family. What a change in the weather and everything. But we are enjoying Tulsa. We are living in a small gated community with mostly retired people. I have moved but they didn’t take the TEXASAN out of me. I still wear my UT and UTEP Shirts and Caps. I been reading the RPN on line for the last several years, and really enjoy the news. I appreciate all the work that goes into to get it out. We have a new email address which I would like to have included. Thanks for
the fine job you all are doing. Clifford De Zeeuw
Dear Sue, My name is Mike Copeland. I was looking to get an obit
in the Rusty Pipeliner for my father, Adrian. While looking for your email
address today I noticed one was already sent in. I'm not sure who sent it.
Maybe his brother Jim. I was adding some things to it concerning dad and EPNG.
I also wanted folks to know that dad followed Jim out to Farmington as Jim was
already working for EPNG. Is there any way you can replace the current obit with this
one attached? If not, it isn't any big deal, but it would be great if you
could.
Thank you so much, Mike Linda, Thanks for all your effort tin publishing the Rusty
Pipeliner’s News. It is much appreciated. I’m enclosing my check for
the annual donation. Thanks again, Linda! Jim Ayres Thank you! Keep up the great work! Dear Pipeliner News, A little late but still in July renewal. Boy this year
has really been a hot weathered stinker! Appreciate receiving the
pipeliner news – get a cross section of all our past acquaintances. Here
is my year’s contribution. Thank you for your coverage. Always, Kenneth O. Heusser 1700 N. Chaco Ave. Farmington, NM 87401-7010 Linda, I need to
correct Norman’s age that was in last month’s newsletter. Don’t know if it
was a lapse in my memory or a typo. At any rate, he is very proud of his
82 years since in 1978, he had a life expectancy of 8 years. He has
continued to baffle his heart doctor’s and has long outlasted three. So,
please correct that in your next newsletter. Over the weekend, we were able to
meet our newest great granddaughter from Kenya. She is just precious and
so very smart.
Her name is Julia and will be three in August. Thanks for everything. Margaret and Norman Hicks P. O. Box 1041 Jal, NM 88252-1041 Oops!!! A little late – sorry !! Sue Horn Dear RPN staff: That time of year again. Note: have a new e-mail address. Thank you for all the hard work you people do. Frank & Liz Lemoine Arboles, CO Dear RPN Staff: Sorry I am so late in sending my donation for 2011. I
enjoy reading the Rusty Pipeliner. Thanks, Ellen Tidwell P. O. Box 27 Sierra Blanca, TX 79851-0027
Updated August 3, 2011 Dear friends, my grandmother, Rosa
Gregory Clower passed away this last February. I have attached a copy of her
obituary and a recent photo. We know that she had many friends in the Rusty

Updated August 1, 2011 A little late so will
double up. Ken Clower After Mina received
an email from Sue Gibson about the Rusty Pipeliners’ News, I thought I had
better look to see when I sent in my last check. It was February 2010!
Anyway, I have enclosed my check and apologize for the delay. Mina and I really
appreciate all the hard work that is done by all the officers, staff,
volunteers, and contributors to the Rusty Pipeliners’ News. Doug Cowan Please renew our
subscription for the Rusty Pipeliner news for another year. Thanks, Mrs. Marvin

2011 W. T. Hollis Sorry this is late
again. Maybe get it in on time next year. Gene & Sue Jones Seminole, TX Enclosed is a copy of the
obituary of my dear husband, Robert Hudson Pyeatt. He loved getting the

work. Dean Stillwell 505-301-1488 Just want to say
“Thank You” to the entire staff for the good work you do on the newsletter.

Updated July 3, 2011 Dear Sue, Thank you for the
support the Rusty Pipeliner has given us for our annual EPNG Retiree’s Roundup
here in Farmington. We certainly appreciate it. I have enclosed my
donation, and the 2011 flyer for our next Roundup. Please, if possible,
place this flyer in your July issue. Dan Beyhan 3309 N. Mesa Verde Ave. Farmington, NM 87401-2059 Thanks for the Rusty
Pipeliner “all” these years. I would like to cancel now. I rarely
know anyone except a “good-bye”! Can’t believe Len has been gone 2 ½ years
already. Shirley Barrett Hello “Rusty Pipeliners” So sorry our dues are late
– is this a side effect of aging? We are doing better
than in recent weeks. Bill had a cortisone injection in one knee and an
epidural about 2 weeks ago. He’s feeling better now. I had a kitchen
accident March 15, lost between 2 ½ - 3 ½ pints of blood, emergency room and 2
follow up stays in the hospital. Still going to wound care center but much
improved. We’re having a hot,
dry summer. Farmers are suffering but it’ll rain again one of these days. Thanks again for your
patience with old, forgetful folks like us. Bill & Carolyn
Bowers Linda, You are unbelievable
for all the hard work you delve into for the retiree’s. Don’t know how you
do it, but you are very much appreciated. Thanks again! Don Cannon Thanks for the Rusty
one. See a lot of names and faces I worked with in Jal. I was there
for 33 years in the paint shop. Thanks again. George Chittum Hi
Sue and Linda, It's
that time again and we again wish to express our appreciation for all the hard
work you so selflessly do. Dan especially enjoyed the special
on Bud Lassiter and the YMCA. It was his privilege to be
mentored by this group of dedicated men, Vernus Carey, and Al O'Leary both at
the Y and Skyline Ranch and became the next group of "Y Leaders".
Enclosed is a picture of this group.
Dan and Helen Cowart Houston, TX Sue & Linda, Thank you for
sending me the RPN. Enclosed is a check for another year. Ray Faircloth Dear Linda, Enclosed is an obit
for Tom Bell. It didn’t mention it but he worked many years for El Paso.
He was a lot of fun to be around and had many friends. We knew him at
Williams station. Thank you for entering this in the “Good Byes”.[Please
see p.10] Paul & Vi Gardom Linda,
Thanks to all the staff. Enclosed is check for
another year. We take each year as it comes. We celebrated 62 years
of marriage last January. Norman will be 81 this month of June, so you see
why we take things one day at a time. Just returned from Stephenville and
the Retiree’s reunion. Was very nice but smaller each year; but lots of
visiting, good food and fellowship. This June has been especially good to
us. Our grandson and his wife have a 6 month old baby boy they got when he
was 2 days old and the adoption was final June 7th.
Our granddaughter who is a missionary in Kenya and has legal guardianship of
little Julia (2 years old) received Julia’s passport on June 7th,
so she will soon be able to bring her to Midland, TX for a visit with her
“nana”, Karen Ivy. We are truly blessed. Also, Karen is still
recovering from a severe brain concussion she received last September 2010, but
is making great progress. We had all 3 children and their spouses,
grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren here Memorial Day weekend. All but
one grandson and daughter-in-law were here in Jal. Weather was about 105°
each day but did not hamper our good time. Norman & Margaret
Hicks
RPN Staff, Thanks for the
dedicated work you do to keep us connected. J. F. is still working on his
ten acre dream place with a pond and in-ground swimming pool. It will be
ready to sell this summer.
Our family is doing well except our daughter, Lecrecia,
had her 3rd
brain surgery in Houston on December 20, 2010 and was there for her 3rd
chemo treatment April 19, 2011. She will go to Tulsa for three more chemo
treatments. She fell and broke her back in two places last year but the
cement they put in seems to be working well. Thanks for all the prayers.
We pray for good health for all this coming year. Donation enclosed. J. F. & Chris
Howard P. O. Box 387 Depew, OK 74028-0387 Dear Rusty Pipeliners’
News, Enclosed is our
contribution for keeping the News coming our way. We enjoy reading it a lot and
sometimes see names that we remember from camp days. Such was the case when we
saw John Elms name. His family lived two houses down from us when we lived at
Williams Station between Flagstaff and Williams, Arizona in the 70s. He used to
have Airedale dogs that he hunted mountain lions with. He generously gave a
puppy (one of several) to my youngest son, Dean, but it was just too big a dog
for us to keep so home he went. We loved the camp life there. Elk, deer,
antelope and turkeys were all around us in the beautiful ponderosa pine forest.
Summers were really nice if you had a jacket for when the sun went down. Yvonne
was attending Northern Arizona University for her BA and then her Masters. We
moved to Roswell, NM after she graduated. Our boys played Little League and
learned to hunt while we lived there. Yvonne worked at the Ponderosa Inn with Vi
Nutt (Harold’s wife) who lived next door to us and Lucille Gardom (Paul’s wife)
who lived around the corner. Bruce Gardom and Tracy Ikard both worked there as
busboys and then in the kitchen. Not many 15 yr. olds can cook lobster and steak
like they did! Yvonne especially
remembers one winter when we got 250 inches of snow and it was often 30 degrees
below zero. I had to put a heat lamp under our VW’s motor so it would start in
the mornings. There was lots of shoveling that winter. Tickets were purchased to
see the great pianist Van Cliburn perform at NUA symphony hall and detailed
plans were made to attend. What should happen on the day of the concert--- Snow,
snow and more snow and Interstate 40 was closed. Wouldn’t you know it would
start on that exact day. He never came there again as far as I know. Students at
the University could jump out the second story windows as the main doors were
snowed shut. In the spring when the
snow all melted, it was a sea of red clay mud. That stuff stained the bottom of
everyone’s levis a reddish color that would not wash out. If you were not
careful the mud built up on any kind of tire till they would not turn anymore. It
was really hard to get around then. But of course, we hands could always walk to
work. Russel Cox and his family
lived on the other side of us. They had one son and three daughters. Harold Nutt
had only sons but there were always lots of kids to make a team for anything
they wanted to play. As I recall, Dorothy Cox was the best player on their
teams. The only bad memory we
have of camp was the mosquitoes. In the summer they could be ferocious. I
remember that when we moved there in August, Kenny Nutt came to visit
immediately and he was covered from head to toe it seemed to me) with big red
itchy welts. We soon learned why and our boys looked like that too. I forgot –
we always had an abundance of skunks. That was a minor problem too. Red Carr was the station
chief and he was always very helpful and well liked. I remember a guy who came
all the way from I-40 (3 miles) to our station, past all those trees, to ask if
he could use the restroom. We all thought that was really funny. He must have
been a tourist from the city. Well just a few memories.
Maybe some of the others who were there at the times can add a few to the News. Milton (Gerry) and
Yvonne Ikard Chandler, Texas Dear Old Gas Folk We are getting older
but ain’t we tough and blessed. I am reminded of how blessed because as I
write this, the reports of the tornado’s work in Joplin is all over the news.
I also feel guilty that I am concerned about our having to ration water in the
Midland area. I need to apologize
for not sending in a notice of Linda Jones’ passing. Her husband was Doug
Jones. They lived and worked in El Paso and had moved to Granbury when
Doug retired. She is survived by two daughters, Devonne and Amanda, four
granddaughters and spouses, her mother, and two great grandchildren. Linda was one of
those rare people who didn’t talk bad about others. If she thought it, she
kept her opinion to herself. Also, she suffered from crippling arthritis
many years. But when you ask how she was doing, the answer was always
“Fine”. And, she is doing fine now – she is with Jesus, pain free and her
joints are all straight. So now I try to take a page out of Linda’s book
“keep going and respond with an “I’m fine”. I have had a busy
year and have been so blessed. I got to take a trip to Israel the last of
February – yes, at my age. Others went that were older. I admit it
took nearly two weeks to recover, but it was so worth it. I’m fine because
I don’t have time not to be. Our family is now
two stronger. Megan McGowen married in May and T. J., Mike and Esther’s
son became a daddy in May. Two more graduated this May – Kelby McGowen and
Rose Jones. A side note here:
As I watch TV, I see advertisements to donate to the Red Cross for the
disasters. There are others out there and most of them use all the money
for the victims. Google to Disaster Relief Agencies – then click on
Disaster Relief Agencies and non-governmental organizations. There is a
long list there. Click on them and find out about them. I expect
their funds may be getting thin with all the demands this year. I am partial to the
Southern Baptist ones, of course. These people respond quickly and work
long hours, staying as long as they are needed. Claudeen Jones 5609 San Saba Ave Midland, TX 79707-5066 Ph. 423-664-5998 Thanks so much for
all your work. We’re still enjoying lake living. Harlis & Bettye
Logan Dear RPN Staff, Thank all of you for
keeping the RPN coming our way. I am doing ok – just taking it one day at
a time. Stan McMahan P. O. Box 216 Jal, NM 88252-0216 Sue Gibson-Grafe, Just a note to say
“HELLO” and that I am doing well, and to say “HELLO” to everyone. Wanda
was diagnosed with cancer 06-01-10 and after several tests, chemo, and
radiation, she said, “I will not go through this again. I want to live out
my last days on this earth as peaceful as possible.” She passed away @
5:03 p.m. 04-25-11. [Please see Good-Byes.] Clovis Moore Dear RPN Staff, You are doing a
great job. Enclosed is my 2011 donation. Ray & Wanda Place EPNG Rusty Pipeliner Attention: Linda Carter Dear Linda, Please include in
the next issue the following obituary of Stanley Nemec – a dear friend and
co-worker since 1950. [Please see Good-Byes.] Robert L. Mullen
Linda Carter, Enclosed is my check for
the Rusty Pipeliner for a couple of years! (Guess that is optimistic for my
age!) Connie, my wife, has
had a couple of back surgeries in the last three years, but we keep going!
My back gets to me now and then but the doctor says no surgery is necessary.
Guess that goes with old age. We moved to San
Antonio about six years ago in August. I know of about four EPNG Co.
people living here. Some in Kerrville also. Maybe we should start
having meetings here. Last year we spent
eleven days in Germany from Berlin to Munich – beautiful country, very clean, no
litter or graffiti and everyone spoke English! We also cruised
northeastern Canada for seven days and seven days in the eastern Caribbean with
the Heart of Texas Music Association with country western bands and singers.
Lots of fun!
In March this year, we attended my 55th
reunion of my class at Texas A & M. In June, we are going on a two week
cruise in the Baltic Sea area visiting 8 different countries ending in
Stockholm, Sweden. As my grandfather came from Stockholm, we are staying
for another week to check out my “roots”. Found a distant relative who
says he will show us Sweden! His son has the same name as me. Should
be interesting! Thanks for the newsletter. Kenneth L.

Munn Hi Everyone, Here I am a day
late, but not a dollar short. I have been putting this off as I hate to
write letters. I also like to read letters that others send in. I am
disappointed when people I know send in their money and just say (“You are doing
a good job”). I like to read how they are doing and what they have been
doing. Here it is spring
time and I am way behind on all the work that needs to be done on my small farm.
I sold out of hay a few weeks ago, just a few bails to feed my sheep until their
pasture is up enough to feed them. Out of 10 ewes we got 16 lambs this
year. Norma and I are doing o.k.
God bless, Cleve & Norma
Noble Hello Linda, I about forgot.
Have a good year. I know we will. Ben & Marvel
Noland Sue, Enclosed is a check
to help with expenses for the Rusty Pipeliner. Thank you so much for
putting Jacque’s mom, Doris Riddle’s obituary in. We both grew up in
EPNG Camps, and I went to work for them in 1969, retired in 2002, and then
contracted back with the inspection group under Lloyd Moore. EPNG has
always been a part of our lives, and we have made many wonderful friends through
the years. If anyone comes through Jal, please give us a call and come by
for a visit. Thank you for all of your
hard work, Mike and Jacque

Underwood Dear Linda and all you
faithful and dedicated helpers, We appreciate all of
your work for keeping the RPNews coming our way. We are back in NM
after spending six months in AZ. We visited the group in Tucson several
Wednesdays and we are sorry to say the numbers are diminishing much too quickly.
However, all of us are beginning to show our age. We had much colder
weather there than usual but we’re glad to still be able to travel and we do
enjoy our new motor home. Thanks again for
keeping all of us in the extended friends and family group (in the loop).
May is almost here and our temperature (low) last night was 26° on our hill.
But, we like our hill and its view of the beautiful Colorado mountains.
Come visit if you, any of you, ever venture our way. Thanks again to all, Tommie & Mary Webb P. O. Box 327 Aztec, NM 87410-0327 Rusty Pipeliner, Thanks for all your
efforts of keeping the El Paso Natural bunch in contact with each other as much
as possible. Thanks again, Eula Mae Wehunt
Updated May 1, 2011
Dear RPN Staff: Enclosed is my 2011
donation for the Rusty Pipeliner News. Thank you for the good job you are
doing Alvin Antley Dear Sue, I am enclosing a
check to help pay expenses for The Rusty Pipeliner for another year.
Although I enjoy it very much, I am sad to realize that I recognize fewer and
fewer of the names. That is to be expected since Doyle and I left Jal in
1967 and El Paso in 1977. As long as Doyle was living, I could keep up
with people better as he knew most of the employees and I knew them by name,
even if I did not know them personally. He did so love his work with the
company and the employees were special to him. Many times when one
moves to another town and another job, people and events become faint memories.
That was never so with Doyle and myself. The people of EPNG and the
friends we made during those years always remained in our hearts and do so today
in mine. May all of you have the
same memories that we did as we continue through the years. With fond memories, Pat Balko Linda, As I pay my annual
donation, I was thinking that eleven years ago I asked you to be Chairman of the
reunion luncheon and you said ok, I’ll do it. Since that request, you are
still reunion luncheon chairman, also Treasurer, keep the monthly breakfast
ongoing, call retirees and keep all the data on the retirees, the care
committee, and now acting secretary. Boy, eleven years goes by fast when
you are so busy! “Thank you for all that you do”. Jerry Bear [Note from
Linda: Thank you for the kind words, Jerry. And, thank you for being
my right hand man when it comes to filling in for me at the breakfast meetings
every now and then. I also thank Bubbles Eades for her help in checking
our attendees in at the breakfast meetings. It would be chaos without you
and Bubbles.] Thanks for all your work! Don & Betty Bierd Thank all of you for
the good work you do to keep the retirees in touch with one another. We
really are a special group. We are surely ready
for spring and our gardening. Nothing like fresh vegetables and sharing
them. Roger is a good gardener and we pray for rain to help us. Hope
all of you will have a bushel and a peck of good summer veggies from your
gardens or a friendly neighbor. Roger & Iwanda
Boyd Abilene, TX Hi Sue, Thanks for the

typical hot summer up here. Debi & Henry Kelly Thanks again for the

Charlene Stewart 2607 Brenda St. Stephenville, TX
76401-1918 Enclosed is our
annual donation check for the newsletter. It seems that the years flash by
more frequently all the time. We went to Baton
Rouge again this year during Mardi Gras, to visit with our Granddaughter, her
husband and son. It was raining when we got there, all the next day, and
when we left three days later. The only time I have to check the
windshield wipers on our vehicles is when we use one to go to Louisiana. We made a trip to
Pennsylvania for a Shreffler family reunion in June last year, via Virginia to
visit with Ruthie’s sister who lives with her son and daughter-in-law in
Hampton, VA. Our daughter, Christy, went with us. We took the
airlines both ways as Christy cannot be away from her medical treatment for a
prolonged time. We still have our
“cabin” at Timberon and visit there as often as we can. It seems that
every trip there is a “work” trip rather than a leisure trip as there is always
something that needs tending. Thanks again for all the
work that you all do on the newsletter; we appreciate it very much. Sincerely, Jack & Ruthie
Shreffler P. O. Box 135 Jal, NM 88252-0135 You’re doing a great

for 2011. Thanks for all the news and information. We appreciate it
very much. Jerry & Jo Walker P. O. Box 871 Rising Star, TX 76471-0871 RPN, Enclosed is our
subscription money. I don’t enjoy the computer like Pat does, so I would
prefer getting the RPN by “snail mail”. We are well and very active.
Our kids, Licia, Rusty & Brian all live in the Phoenix valley. So, we see
them often. We have 4 grandchildren and all are in college – 3 soon to
graduate. One granddaughter in May from East Texas Baptist U. with a BSN
in Nursing, another in August from Mid Western U. with her masters degree as a
Physician’s Assistant. Our only grandson is playing baseball at Baylor U.
and will graduate in December with a degree in Graphic Design. Our
youngest granddaughter will attend Grand Canyon U. in the fall as a junior. We both sing in 2
choirs, active in church, travel some with the choir and try to keep up with our
family. We’ve found that retirement is not for the weak is it??
Enjoy the “Roundup” in Farmington every year also. Thank you for all the
“news”. Bill & Pat Ware 3822 W. Vogel Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85051-3376 e-mail:
bpware@msn.com Dear RPN Staff, Here’s my dues for
another year. Keep up the good work and God Bless. Clarence Willson RP Staff. I hope you can use this
article or parts of it in some way in the RP. Daddy and Uncle Howard Boyd
went to DC on April 12. Daddy was in the Instrument Department with EPNG
and so was Uncle Howard. Uncle Howard lived in Jal for many years and then
worked at Snyder. There is an error in the paper though. Uncle
Howard flew 29 missions instead of 19. They both enjoyed the trip so much.
They both had been to DC before but had not seen the World War II Memorial.
They said it was so very impressive. These flights are being
done in nearly every state and they are free. You fill out an application
and you are chosen on a first come, first serve basis. Currently it is for
World War II veterans only but the plans are to expand it to include Vietnam
vets in a few years. You can go to honor flight network or honor
flight.org to find out the details about the flights and to get an application
form. Thank you and we
appreciate everything to do toward keeping everyone in touch. Roxie McMahan

Updated March 1, 2011 Hi guys….. This is from Debi.
Our house in Midland is for sale. If you know of anyone looking for a
house in the Fannin school area, that would be us. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths. Victoria Printz and her
crew are handling the listing, but you can contact us as well. When we aren’t here in
Anaco, we are in EP taking care of my Dad. I’ve already been there 5 weeks
this year and headed back for 2 more weeks later in the month. Retirement is FUN!!!!
Not. Debi Kelly Hello, I haven’t received a
pipeliner in a while. Is it because I’m late with a check? Sorry, I
usually write a note on the calendar reminding me and I forgot to do this. Thanks, Nell Addison Dear Staff, Thanks so much for
your effort. Enjoy the monthly news about people I knew and worked with.
It’s sad to see the Good Bye’s, but, good to get the news. L. E. Allen
Time to pay up again. Thanks for keeping the news
coming. Margaret and I are doing well. Just the aches and pains with
aging. We still enjoy traveling around the country with our 5th
wheel. We’ll be going to Missouri in May for my 60th
class reunion. There will probably be some old folks show up there.
Thanks again. Bill L. Anderson Keep up the good work and
best to all. Rick Baish Dear Sue, et al, Oops! A trifle late

Egger Kermit, TX Hi Everyone, Thanks for another
great year. Only a group of EPNG retirees could exhibit such dedication
year after year. A much appreciated effort! Bill Fenley Hi RPN folks, It’s donation time
again, which I am happy to do. It’s so nice that everyone involved in the
production of the RPN uses their time to do such a fine job and a nice one it
is. Thank you to everybody. When I’ve sent in my
annual donation, I’ve said “Hello” to four or five people the last four years
and I’ve only had one respond. So, this year, I’m going to do something
else: “Ford Company
claims to have the most sales of pickups for 34 years running. I’ll tell
you why; people who buy Fords don’t have enough money to buy a good truck and
are too lazy to walk. So, they buy Fords!” “And, one of them
has a step and hand rod to help you get into the bed. The rod is heated –
why, you ask? So the driver can keep his hands warm while waiting for a
tow truck!” Thanks again and Love to
all, Louie E. Fink Dear Linda, Enclosed is my dues, plus
a little extra for another year of the Rusty Pipeliner. I have wonderful memories
of my 30 years with EPNG and always look forward to the RPN. Your good work is

Updated February 24, 2011 Dear Linda, My dad, Stanton McMahan who will be 91 in April, worked in the Instrument Department in Jal for many years and is now retired and still living in Jal. He mentioned reading David Lee Hamilton's obituary and that it was submitted by Richard Hamilton's wife. Richard worked in the Instrument Department in the mid 50's and then he quit and left Jal and daddy lost contact with him. Daddy said they called him 'Bones'. He would love to get in touch with him. Can you give me their address or phone number so daddy can contact him? There is going to be another All School Reunion this Labor Day weekend but because of limited facilities and accommodations in Jal it is going to be in Odessa at the MCM FunDome. The dates are September 2 & 3. There will be more information and a registration form sent later but for now "save the date." This is not just for former students but everyone is welcome. We love EPNG Rusty Retirees and know that there are several in the area so please make plans to attend. If anyone has any questions about the reunion please contact me at rswain@windstream.com or call 575-395-3383 or contact Betty Wink Kemper at bettyk@hughes.net or call 432-758-5770. Betty is coordinating the reunion this year. She has organized reunions for her class several times and did an outstanding job so it goes without saying that this reunion will be very successful. I have been reading the Pipeliner on line now and that is working great for me. I am amazed at the enthusiasm that you and the rest of the Rusty Pipeliner staff continue to exhibit in the production of this publication. In 1999 before the 2000 All School Reunion in Jal, a former JHS student, daughter of former EPNG employee Bob Wright, and my good friend Mary Grayce Wright Morrison coined the phrase "Jal Glue". She said she thought that anyone who had ever lived in Jal seemed to have some kind of lasting bond and for lack of a better description called it "Jal Glue". I really think that could be extended to EPNG employees. It seems they all have some kind of invisible bond/glue that keeps them connected in some manner regardless of health, wealth, or location. Thank you for being a large part of that glue. We appreciate you very much. Roxie Swain Box 287 Jal, NM 88252

Wauson P. O. Box 44 Timberon, NM 88350-0044 Way back in May, 1952 when
I started working for the Loving Pipeline District, I was working with G.B.
Henderson, James Siddall, and Harry Williamson. I learned very quickly how
things were done when you were digging out a leak in the pipeline. There was
only room in the hole for one man at a time, so you had better relieve him as
soon as possible. If you didn’t obey this unwritten law, you paid for it dearly.
When you finally got into the hole, it was a long time before you got out.
Someone was always in the hole and you found out early to demand that he get out
of there and give you a chance. This was a very fair and just way to repair
leaks, Although G.B. was a subforeman, he always took his turn and showed you
the right way to belong to a work gang. Believe me, ten minutes in a leak hole
was a long time when you were using a pick and shoveling. Luckily I was a quick
learner and was soon outworking all of them put together – I Think. It was hard
work, but very satisfying when the day was done and you knew you had earned your
pay that day. We repaired a lot of leaks the few years that I was a pipeliner. I
belonged and that was important to me. Thanks, G.B. Jesse the 3rd Sue, I am forwarding this
for my sister-in-law and brother, Terrie (Fletcher) and Luie Douglas Tharp. Ray
was a long time El Paso Nat. employee. Would you please put this in an upcoming
Rusty Pipeliner. Thank you very much. Please contact me if there is anything I
can help with. Milton Tharp Law Enforcement Instructor Odessa College 432-296-2196 Updated January 30, 2011
Hi Sue,
I am Richard Hamilton's wife and we subscribe to the Rusty
Pipeliner as Richard worked for El Paso Natural Gas for years and now contracts
back to them for various jobs.
His father, David Lee Hamilton who also worked for El Paso
for several years, passed away in December and Richard would like it put in the
Rusty Pipeliner newsletter as many employees knew Lee.

Hi Sue,
Jesse Blair Hello Linda, And, hello to the chief
photographer -- long time no see. It’s time to pay up again. Dating the mailout
is a great idea. My fishing guide says time spent fishing does not count on your

Head Well another year has come
and gone and now time to pay our dues. This has been a rough year in the Hill
household. Jack had a hip replacement in April and then shoulder worked on in
October. Still not up to par… But, our problems seem minor compared to some of
our other El Paso family. Some have lost loved ones and other more serious
illness. Our sympathy goes out to those who have suffered these losses… May God
bless and comfort each of you. Our prayers go out to everyone for the New
Year…Hopefully will be a better one. May God bless us all in
the year ahead. Jack and Joyce

Updated December 27, 2010 Dear Linda, As I explained to you
today, I would like more information shared about Barbie and what she meant to
so many people. Thank you for your kindness. "Barbie Lee" Let me tell you about
Barbie Lee as she was affectionately called by all who knew her. She was my loving wife for
just twelve days shy of 58 years. She was dedicated to God, her children and all
little children with whom she came into contact. She taught third grade for 18
years. They were favorites of hers. Barbie earned her Masters degree in
Education and she also earned her P.H.T. by putting her husband through his last
two years of college. Barbie was the most
giving, unselfish person you could know. She gave of her time to family, to her
church and to others. She once told me that all she wanted on her headstone were
the words "She Loved" One thing that Barbie and
I agreed on in our early married life was that we would never live in
southeastern New Mexico, because of the foul smell of sour gas in the
atmosphere. We lived in Jal for Twenty Five years. The smell got removed and
finally we had to move, and that was a sad day for both of us. She loved the
people of Jal. Barbie was not only the
mother of Allen Lee Mobbs and Belinda Gayle Wiens, but she was "maw maw" to
Jessica, Castro, Shawna and Megan Mobbs. She was affectionately known as "gram"
to Branson and Landon Wiens. She was also great-grandmother to Cassidy and
Clinton Castro. Barbie's art was done
with hammer, saw and paint brush as she labored away on her cabin in Cloudcroft.
She loved those people and those mountains. Her body now lies among those pine
trees and her soul is at peace with her heavenly father.

To Whom It May Concern: My father, Charles Vernon Crosley (Vern) passed away November
12, 2010. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1981 after 35 years of
service. He worked in El Paso TX, Topock AZ, and Gallup NM. Please include his obituary in your next issue. [Please see Good-Byes]. Thank you and May God Bless. David Crosley Dear Ms. Gibson, I have enclosed a notice that I am requesting to be placed in
the “Rusty Pipeliner”. My Dad, Earl “Buddy” Stanton was employed with EPNG for
approximately 28 years. He was very proud, in fact, it was his life of working
with the company. Thank you so much, Sandra Stanton 136676 County Road 3487 Ada, OK 74820-4830 580-310-6189 Updated November 22, 2010 Just want to report that
the retirees in the Odessa area will be meeting at Furr’s Cafeteria next year.
We decided it was too difficult to go to different places and keep everyone
informed that didn’t come on a regular basis…..Same time and in the Mall
as before. Shirley Stokes After battling this
computer for weeks they finally came and gave me a new address, so we will see
if that works. Ed McWilliams Dear Other Rusty People, Yes, we know we are
late, but we have been hoping since July that we could give you our new address
back in El Paso. Looks like it will finally take place next week (October
19). The buyers of our house in Ruidoso had a difficult time getting their
mortgage (real estate money is so tight now). But, finally we are moving
back close to our son in EP because memory problems are getting worse and we
need a little TLC. Y’all come see us. Walt and Katy

Charlene Applewhite Dear Sue, Here are our October

good to see everyone and the food was great. Thanks for all you do for us.
We want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday. Gail and Frances
Bauer I always look
forward to getting the Pipeliner each time. I need to correct some errors
in the article by Cookie Felts in a previous issue. I had not heard from
her in several years and I think she misunderstood some of what I told her. My older daughter
graduated from Odessa High while we were living at Goldsmith. She married
shortly after that and never lived in Jal. The other two did graduate
here. My son is not a
“Jr.”. His name is Joe Bert. His father was Bert Henry. The
“Joe” that he went by was a nickname he had since a small child (it’s a long
story). Joe never worked nor did we ever live at Number 4 Plant. He
went to work in 1948 at the main warehouse, then worked as the clerk at Wasson
and Goldsmith. Cookie’s uncle and Joe’s cousin, Sam Chisolm, did work
there in the 1950’s. Joe came to the division warehouse in 1968. At
that time we moved into General Camp. For those not familiar with it, it
was located in the town of Jal, just east of Highway 18 about three blocks from
the high school. The employees who lived here were not plant personnel,
but were from all different departments – lab, measurement, accounting,
electrical, garage, paint shop, engineering, etc. When El Paso sold
the houses, they sold the lots along with the houses. That is why we
didn’t have to move them. The parks, streets, vacant lots and the main
office were turned over to the city of Jal. The police department has
their headquarters in the main office building. Only three of the houses
were ever moved out. There are about 10 retirees still living here. They still look like
company houses although there are no more green roofs. A couple of hail
storms took care of them. Some have been enlarged; a couple have been
bricked and some painted a different color. A few have shutters and
carports added. Some of the smaller ones were turned into rent houses and
a few of those are shabby looking. Some of the yards look like any other
place – some well kept – others junky and not mowed. Living in and
raising kids in a camp has been a great experience. We moved in the first
house a few months before our first child was born and they never knew anything
different until they left home. It was quite a shock when they found out
you had to pay utility bills! Many thanks for keeping
the paper going so we can all keep in touch. Ailene Chisolm Jal, NM Thanks for all the
good work. You are doing a great job Jimmy & Elsie
Berkey Dear Linda, We’re running out of
time to renew our dues! We were able to attend the Farmington Reunion,
seeing several friends there including brother, Adrian and wife, Yvonne.
We regret that we will miss the El Paso Reunion – maybe next year. We traveled on to
Flagstaff and attended a shower for our granddaughter who is expecting our first
great-grandchild. Steve Carlson, is still employed by EPNG, is the
grandfather to be. We had an especially
hot summer in Arkansas and we are in need of rain. The Fayetteville shale
drilling has given our area quite a boom. Thank you for all you do. James & Maybelle

It is such a joy to see notes from old friends and acquaintances from our past.

replace that hot summer. Paul & Vi Gardom Please change my address: Thanks, Chloe Goin 3203 Elma Dr. Midland, TX 79707-5200 Dear Linda, Thanks for all the
years of your dedicated work in bringing the RPNews to former EPNG employees.
Enclosed is donation for another year. Oscar S. & Patricia Howard Dear RPN Staff: I am renewing my
dad’s subscription even though he has passed. I myself would like to keep
up with anyone familiar to me. I grew up at the Willcox Station up until
the time I married in August of 1970. EPNG was such a big, wonderful part
of my life. The children in this day and time absolutely do not know what
a wonderful way of life we had growing up at a station. Gosh, we had 3
streets of families and they were all our family. We had a tennis court,
which we could turn into a volleyball court real fast if we wanted. There
were basketball hoops, 2 great playgrounds, a fishing pond, vacant grass lots at
the end of every row of homes, and one big place to play hide and seek. We
had a rec hall with a stage. We would have Christmas plays and have
company dinners. The high school boys, Danny Riggs, Danny McWilliams and
Charlie Burleson along with a couple of boys from town had a band called the
Wooden Nickels and they would practice and we would all show up and dance if we
wanted. In fact, this Rex Allen Day Weekend, the band will reunite and JAM
at Kathy (Grenko) and Jim Cook’s home – just a hop and a skip and a jump from my
home. It will be a wonderful get together. Kathy’s family will all
be in. Her Dad, Tony, her brother, John, sisters, Cheryl and Allyson and
their families. My sister, Eilean, will be here from Glendale, Kim
Burleson, Linda and Nancy McWilliams live here also and it will be such a
wonderful reunion for us all. Please send my
subscription to: Sandie (Hagar)

the Rusty Pipeliner both written and on the web and even on Face Book! Glenn turned 75 this year
and we celebrated our 52 Anniversary. It really makes him happy to talk to
old friends with EPNG and recall all of the "Old Days". Thanks for all you do
for us. Glenn and Eleanor
Probably none of you
out there are "Geocachers" but I finally got around to placing a cache in
tribute to the Camp Brats out there. J.R. Galle Based on the an EPT
article (10/13/10), I must assume that Victor Martinez, EPNG Retired, is related
to the gubernatorial candidate for the State of New Mexico, Susana Martinez. Vic Martinez, you
may recall, was instrumental in the production of a privately published
book re: his (great?) grandfather(?), Gen. Toribio Ortega. I had a copy of said book but I cannot
locate it at this time. I also do not have any
contact numbers for Vic and there are a host of them listed in the El Paso
Telephone Directory. Surely, someone at the Rusty Pipeliner can track Vic down. Sounds
like an interesting story to me. Ciao!
Paul Daniggelis Updated September 29, 2010 Dear RPN Staff: Thanks a million,

we are here in central Texas. Oh, but, the Lord is good, so good, he has
blessed us with some rain now and then for which we are so thankful. Bless
you for keeping us informed in the newsletter. (Enclosed is our renewal
for another year.) Nolan Boyd McGregor, TX Hi: Enclosed is another
year’s donation. Thanks for a job well done in keeping all informed.
Enclosed, also, is a copy of Jim’s obituary provided by wife, Glenda. With
27 years with El Paso Natural Gas Co., he had 25 wonderful years of retirement.

Keep in touch. Have a good day! Margaret Carter Rusty Pipeliner News: Above is the
obituary of Jean Fenner, wife of Marcus Fenner. Marcus retired several
years ago after many years of service. He was in the San Juan Division at
Farmington, NM at the time of his retirement. They moved to Abilene, Texas
at that time. Would you please print her obituary in the Rusty Pipeliner.
[Please see Good-Byes.] Larry M. Coffey Hello! My father, George A.
Chittum worked for EPNG Co. for 30 + years in Jal, NM in the Paint Dept.
He remarried and changed addresses. I would really like for him to start
receiving “Rusty Pipeliner’s News” once again. His address is: 106 N. Magnolia St. Truth or Consequences, NM
87901-2920. My father-in-law,
Jimmy Doom, EPNG Co. 30 + years, also receives the RPN currently. We do so
much appreciate you and all that you do!! I had the distinct privilege to
grow up in a town that EPNG Co. built! Most all the men and women that
worked for this company are all alike in that they had huge hearts and would do
anything for anyone!! This town has changed – but, the people of EPNG Co.
have not. Sincerely, Fonia Doom Linda, Thanks for the print
out of the RPN news. Keep up the good work. Oklahoma is good at this
time of year. Golfing is good; fishing is better. Having a good time
with both sports. Isaac Miller Dear RPN Staff: I will be kind to
you and type this as I am overdue on donation. How come I think of it a
month or two in advance, then forget until the month after the due date? I have had a good
year. I have gotten to travel a lot. Most of my family were here
last Christmas. I now have 4 great-grandchildren and according to their
grandparents, they are just the best ever. In June, we added another
granddaughter by marriage. I experienced the
hot and humid Arkansas summers this year with Karen’s family. It was worth
it sitting and watching the rivers flow. I survived a 5 hour canoe ride
down a river. Yep, I started out singing “row, row, row your boat” and
ended with “bury me in this river, I can go no further”. The real show was
getting me out of that canoe. Three times. I caught the biggest and
first fish on a Disney princess rod. Twelve inches may not be too big to
some, but for someone who hasn’t fished in over 60 years, that is exciting.
The beauty of Arkansas was wonderful, but it can’t beat the plains. It
seems one can just breathe deeper when one can see all the way out yonder. I loved the report
on the Stephenville reunion. It is nice to hear that those folks are still
kicking. I also enjoyed reading Ikard’s letter. It answered my
wonderings about them. How fun those donkeys must be. Well, on to another
year. I have the suitcase packed behind the door (not really) ready for
the next trip. I can go because Sharon is faithful to take care of my
stuff. She and Roy are the proud grandparents of No 4, Keyleigh.
This baby I am really getting to enjoy often. Gale has the first three
great-grands and I mostly just get to hear about them. I can’t close this
without saying, “Praise God, He has blessed me more than I could ever imagine or
deserve.” May I never forget to thank Him. Claudeen Jones 5609 San Saba Ave Midland, TX 79707-5066 Hi Linda & Crew, I feel like the Mad
Hatter – “I’m late, I’m late………” So, here is my late check in support for
the fine work you all do so well keeping us, the Rusty ones, informed of our
collective lives after EPNG. A great job well done. Thank you all so
very much. After having
traveled thousands of miles, met and talked to thousands of people at hundreds
of places throughout the country while doing our gypsy/snake oil thing, Lucy and
I have decided we need to do something different beginning next year. Lucy
has two grandsons who have stolen her heart, so, she will take on the “Grandma”
thing with great vigor. The universe is vast – so,
for me, there is always something to keep me busy, such as, Roads never
traveled, Places never visited, Out of the way places to be discovered,
Everlasting wisdom of the world to be learned and passed on to my posterity as
well as Lucy’s – one day at a time. Thank you all again for a
job well done. Randy & Lucy Kelly El Paso Thanks for doing

Dear RPN Staff, I’m a month late with my donation but time just seems to fly
when you are having fun. My health is not great but what can you expect
from an eighty six year old. If I had expected to live this long, I would
have taken better care of myself. You youngsters are doing a great job
with the Rusty Pipeliner. So, keep up the fine work. Kenneth Ares Seagrove, NC Hi, Just a note to tell you how much we appreciate all your hard
work to keep us up to date on everyone. Sorry this is late, but time gets
away. Louie Bell To the Talented Hard working Staff: Obviously, you know we have moved and know where we are.
It was a nice surprise to get the Rusty Pipeliner, and a wake-up call to send
some money. Ken and I
are happy to be in the beautiful hill country. Our offspring are pleased
about it too. We will host the Ex-Pat Reunion at the LaQuinta September 24th
and 25th
and are looking forward to seeing everyone. Please know that we sincerely appreciate the fantastic job
you folks do. Best Wishes, Ken & Rosa Clower 212 Bending Oaks Trail Fredericksburg, TX 78624-4807 I would like to have this in next
month’s newsletter.
[Please see Good-Byes.] Thank you, Valencia Jo Holub Rusty Pipeliner Staff, Enclosed is our check to cover two years donation to the
Rusty Pipeliner News. (2010 and 2011). Sorry to be so late with this, how
time does seem to fly when you get older. We are doing pretty well for old people, Williard will be 80
next month and I will be 75 in October. Williard just had cataract surgery
on his left eye this month and is doing very well with that. He has been
diagnosed with Parkinsons’ disease but since the diagnosis and with medication
is doing well at this time. We were both ill and pretty well confined for a
year; but are now up and about again – mostly to doctor’s appointments, church
and grocery store. But, we praise God that we’re once again able to do
these simple things. We enjoy reading the Rusty Pipeliner and do appreciate all
your hard work in getting it out. Donna & Williard House 917 Martin Street Kermit TX 79745-4518 Rusty Pipeliner News Enclosed find our check. I am a little late as it was
due in May. We had a big snow here in East Texas this winter that
reminded us of the ones we used to have when we lived at Blanco Plant near
Bloomfield. Thankfully, it was not like the ones we had at Williams Plant
near Flagstaff, AZ. We had to do without power for 3 days. It was
pretty cold for no heat. The trees here just don’t hold up to heavy snow.
They lose lots of limbs and that sure plays havoc with the electric lines.
Hate to say it, but we have no available natural gas in our area. Then we
had a gorgeous spring with lots of rainfall. Everything bloomed
beautifully as usual, just a little late. May, however, was a month of no
rain at all. Everything was dying except the trees, BUT we got 7 inches at
our little farmstead on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Everything is
green again already. The pastures are looking 100 percent better. Since we are raising spotted grey and white, regular size
donkeys, I sure like that pasture to do well. We are expecting a couple of
baby donkeys anytime now and that will make 8 –7 jennies and 1 big white and
grey jack. They are a lot of fun and we sell them to the ranchers around
here to keep the coyotes away. Momma donkeys do not like anything that
resembles a canine. They chase them and stomp them when they catch them. We are in
reasonably good health, Thank the Lord, and hope to stay that way for a while.
I am always happy to see the Rusty Pipeliner so I can see how many people I know
and where they are living now. Our email is
lyikard@embarqmail.com if any of you are
interested in getting in touch. Yvonne is also on facebook. Bye, Milton G (Gerry) and Yvonne Ikard Dear Staff: Keep up the good work. Here’s our donation for another
year. As I may have mentioned before, when you get creaky in the joints,
it’s not easy to get around. The good ole’ Rusty Pipeliner is about the
only contact you have with old EPNG buddies! Bill and Joy Maxwell 4808 Lafayette Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76107-3726 Dear Linda, I enclose my annual dues for 2010. I thank you for all
your efforts in publishing the RPN. Keep up the good work. Jim Ayres
Dear Linda, We surely appreciate the monthly update of the Rusty
Pipeliner Newsletter. Our contribution for another year. Kenneth O. Heusser Thanks for the news from around the globe of El Paso
employees. Marvin & Mary Harrison 2823 Haynes Dr. Midland, TX 79705-4210 Updated July 1, 2010 Hi Sue, We lived at station #2 for
nine years. Now, for those of you that never lived at a company camp, let me
clue you in: #2 was 65 miles from El Paso, which was
where we had to go to do anything. This was mainly shopping for necessities,
which took all of our paycheck. Our rent was $25.00 a month, which was deducted
from our paycheck. This included all utilities. 65 miles was a long way to
drive, especially if you were hauling as many kids as we had! Trips with them
were few and far between. A friend of ours drove out there one day and said that
you could see for 3 days. My parents, my brother and his wife came in from New
Jersey in 1957, when we had been living there for a few months. I picked them up
from the airport and started our long trek to camp. After a while I said that we
were almost there and my brother said "you said that an hour ago" We went to
church at Dell City. That was 40 miles away. The kids went to school at Sierra
Blanca. That was 45 miles away, actually in another time zone. We lived in the
mountain zone and the school was in the central time zone. As I said, we lived
out there for nine years and really enjoyed it. It wasn't easy, but it was worth
it. When you take time to think about, we were really FAR OUT!
