Brut Sun Bowl game day is in good hands

The Sun Bowl game is played each year in the beautiful Sun Bowl of El Paso on the campus at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Most people never see the behind-the-scenes mechanics that not only go into making this game succeed as a spectacular celebration for El Paso, but also as a safe event for all of the 50,000+ people who attend the game. One of the key people behind the scenes, well-known to the members of the Sun Bowl Association as a valuable team member and dedicated director of game-day operations, is David Ash.

Game-day operations for David’s committee include medical, parking, security, traffic, customer relations, ticket taking, officials, school bands and stadium cleanup. Ash has been involved with the Sun Bowl Association for 30 years.

Ash has a day job as a certified public accountant. He graduated from Burgess High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree from UTEP, as well as a master’s degree in business administration. He has been married to his wife Helene for 12 years and has a son, David Jr., and a daughter, Anna, who are right there by his side through most of his duties. David is the son of Jeanne and Sy Ash and worked at the El Paso Natural Gas Company Main Office, as did his mother, Jeanne Ash, RN.
